What is "I Have a Dream?"

"I Have A Dream" is a Broadway-style gospel musical on the life and times of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. that chronicles the major events of the Civil Rights Movement from December 1, 1955, when Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat on the bus, to the assassination of Rev. Dr. King, Jr., on April 4, 1968. The script was first performed by acting icon Billy Dee Williams at Broadway's Ambassador Theatre on September 20, 1976.

The production, under the direction of the late Dr. Woodie King, Jr., along with Herman LeVern Jones, has toured since 1985 to over 100 cities worldwide, including London, Manchester, Luxembourg, Toronto, and across the United States.

The production is a two-hour multimedia experience (more than 125 historical images from the Civil Rights Movement) including a gala, music, choir, singing more than 20 gospel songs, dancing, and acting that depicts the Civil Rights Movement.

The "I Have A Dream" production also includes a 45-minute matinee version designed for youth, young adults, adults, and seniors. It features music, choir, singing, dancing, acting and with historical images highlighting the Civil Rights Movement.

This depiction of Rev. Dr. King, Jr. and the Civil Rights Movement gives tremendous insight into Rev. Dr. King's love of his family, his sense of humor, and the incredible challenge that African-Americans faced in fighting for basic human rights.
